Chinese dance to Anushka's tunes
China may have mesmerised the world with its songs and dances at the Beijing Olympics' opening extravaganza but when it came to Bollywood music, some Chinese denizens could not resist from shaking a leg at a function.
Anushka Manchanda belted out popular songs at the Huawei India-China Foundation function on Saturday night and some Chinese present there showed their dancing prowess by matching steps to the peppy beats.
Anushka, who was part of India's first all-girl music band Viva before going solo and crooning the hit "Naughty Naughty" (from Cash) and title tracks of "Golmaal" and "Zindaggi Rocks", even gave some easy dancing lessons.
"Dancing is not that difficult. You only need to learn a few tricks," she told the audience.
"Scratch your head and pretend your stomach aches", "adjust the bulb" and "Madhuri Dixit's Dhak dhak step" were some of the tips she gave to those who wanted to hit the dance floor.
Max Yang, CEO of Huawei India, seemed to be the quickest in learning the tricks, leaving Anushka visibly impressed.
Some of his colleagues from the Chinese telecom office too were not to be left behind as they easily adjusted their steps to the fast beats of the songs.
There was a special screening of the opening ceremony of the Olympics in which the dazzling display of Chinese artistes, the Indian contingents march and the breathtaking exploits of former gymnastics champion Li Ning were relived.
