"For most of us, everyday stress and anxiety has become an inescapable part of modern life. Our new range of products provides an apt solution to this problem," said Stella Law, TBS's product head for the Asia-Pacific. "Each range contains effective active natural ingredients based on traditional herbal remedies to address everyday concerns," she added. The new range has four different categories - total energy, deep sleep, gently purify and divine calm - containing natural ingredients like lavender, camomile, eucalyptus, jujube and date. The new range has 19 different products: body washes, body gels, essential oils, soothing shower gels, body moisturisers, pillow and body mists, clay masks, rejuvenating bath soaks, milk bath powders and more. The Body Shop was launched in India in June 2005 and today has 22 stores in eight cities - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai and Pune. The chain will also spread to Hyderabad and Chennai. "Due to the delay in the launch of new malls in Hyderabad and Chennai, our store launches got postponed. We are all geared up to get feedback from these two cities," said Sameer Prasad, COO of Planet Retail Holdings that holds TBS's India franchise. "We are also planning to open 5-10 more stores by the end of this year," he added. Why a store in Ludhiana? "Ludhiana has the highest per capita ownership of Mercedes Benz cars in the country. It was a wise decision and we are getting good response from the city," said Prasad. The Body Shop International has more than 2,200 stores in over 55 countries. The Britain-based company is known for its vegetable based products ranging from body butter to peppermint foot lotion. Its products are totally free of animal derivatives like beeswax or honey. The new range of products is priced between Rs 895 and Rs 1,495.
