Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief K C Sudarshan on Sunday criticised the ongoing Gurjar agitation in Rajasthan and accused its leadership of holding the entire state to ransom.

Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief K C Sudarshan on Sunday criticised the ongoing Gurjar agitation in Rajasthan and accused its leadership of holding the entire state to ransom. "Merely a five per cent population of 25 lakh of Gurjar community was indulging in violence, arson and creating law and order problem to press for the demand for their inclusion in the Scheduled Tribe category, which is totally unjustified and uncalled for," Sudarshan said on Sunday night while addressing the concluding function of third year training course.

He said it was "unfortunate" that their leader happened to be an former army officer, Col Kirori Singh Bainsla, "who is supposed to display army discipline", was at the forefront of violent agitation where some people have been killed. "There was a time in ancient period when Gurjars stopped enemies from invading through western border but today this community wants reservation with force," he said.

Sudarshan also described the protests by Left parties on price rise as a "gimmick". He dared them to withdraw support to the UPA government if they were "really serious" about rise in prices of essential commodities and petro products. The Prime Minister, he alleged without naming, was too apprehensive of communists.

While praising the Salwa Judum movement in naxal-hit Chhattisgarh, Sudarshan lashed out at "so-called human rights activists" who approached the Supreme Court against it. "What were these human rights activists doing when recently, naxals unleashed terror in Bastar killing innocent people and burning their hutments which claimed lives of children," he asked.

On the new communist regime in Nepal, he accused its leader Prachanda of capturing power and eyeing both the top posts of President and Prime Minister. "The left should not forget that they have secured only 29.73 Per cent votes in Nepal," he said.

Quoting media reports, Sudarshan alleged that farmers whose land was acquired in Ambala for a liquor factory, which has Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil's son on its board, have not been paid adequate compensation. "The official residence of Patil was misused for the purpose," the Sarsanghchalak said.

Sudarshan appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to table the bill on ban on cow slaughter in the Parliament and get it approved with majority of Congress and BJP and dump the leftists on the issue.

Communists will never support this and hence he (the PM) should go ahead. The bill was brought by the then NDA government but could not be tabled due to some opposition from NDA partners like Trinamool Congress and others. Shankaracharaya Raghaveshwar Bharti Maharaj Swami, who was chief guest, called for bringing "Muslims into the main stream and demanded total ban on cow slaughter". (PTI)
