BJP to use UPA's loan waiver for its own agenda

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party has devised a unique strategy to counter UPA's loan waiver scheme announced by P Chidambaram in his budget proposals as the party has planned to organize a nationwide "Kheti Bachao Kisan Adalat" from April 7, to May 31. The party would educate farmers about this loan waiver scheme in order to "expose the fallacies of the policy". This was decided at the general secretaries' meeting of the party on Wednesday night, chired by party president Rajnath Singh in the national capital. Addressing the mediapersons, BJP general secretary Anant Kumar said that by working on this strategy, "the BJP intends to expose the hollowness and insincerity of the UPA government's agricultural policies". He said, "The BJP workers would go to villages across the country and get the feedback of the farmers on loan waiver scheme, irrigation facilities, supply of uninterrupted and quality power, and availability of fertilizers and pesticides." The former union state minister for urban development also said that the party would reach out to the people in all the villages to create awareness and educate them about loan waiver scheme announced by UPA as the party thinks that by explaining the scheme in detail, the real intent of the UPA government could be exposed. He also said that the loan waiver scheme of the UPA "does not include majority of the farmers". He said, "Only marginal farmers with irrigation facilities will be benefited by this scheme. Other farmers particularly from Rajasthan, Telengana and Vidarbha region, where irrigation facilities are not adequate, would not be benefited by this loan waiver."
