Seven ministers were today inducted into Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's council of ministers. Among those inducted at a swearing-in ceremony held on the Sunday evening were Member of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia and Jitin Prasada, sons of former senior leaders Madhav Rao Scindia and Jitendra Prasada; former chief election commissioner M S Gill, Congress Puducherry chief V N Narayanswamy, industrialist-turned-politician Sanjay Bagrodia, Rashtriya Janata Dal MP from Bihar Raghunath Jha and Rameshwar Oraon from Jharkhand.

President Pratibha Patil administered the oath of office and secrecy at a function attended by the Prime Minister, his cabinet colleagues and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Minister of Overseas Affairs, Vayalar Ravi has been given additional charge of Parliamentary Affairs Minister. The post was vacated by Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi, who also holds the Information and Broadcasting portfolio.

The biggest surprise of the well known expansion is the absence of Sachin Pilot from the list, son of slain Congress leader Rajesh Pilot. He was front runner along with other young horns as the United Progressive Alliance Government is about to enter into the election year.
M S Gill will take the charge of sports ministry from "reluctant" Mani Shankar Aiyar.
