CID nabs accused in WBJEE question paper leak case

Kolkata: The main accused in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination question paper leak case, Manas Patra was arrested on Wednesday by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department from Tikiapara, Howrah.

Since the starting of the investigation, the CID officers interrogated various people associated with the state-run Saraswati Press. The CID team later visited the security sections of the press where Patra was a proof reader and important question papers were stacked after printing. With the arrest of Patra, CID is reported to have received some more interesting factors that could help them in investigating further.

Patra studied printing technology from Jadavpur University and was employed with Saraswati Press atleast for the last nine years. In 2004 he was shifted from technical department to the very confidential proof reading section following his accident in which he lost his four fingers of his left hand. Though CID refused to reveal anything till the investigation gets over, Patra is reported to have admitted that he leaked question paper in 2007 as well.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference, West Bengal Joint Entrance Exams Chairman, Siddharth Dutta on Wednesday declared that fresh date for the examination has been scheduled for Saturday, May 24 and there will be no change in the timings and syllabus of the examination.
