6 held in Kanchrapara killing

Six persons were arrested in connection with the murder of housewife Chandana Das at Kanchrapara recently. Police also recovered firearms and cartridges from the accused. Police, however, was not able to recover the booty that was looted from Mr Bimal Das’s home.
Police said they have arrested Surya Goldar, Ratan Tarui, Biswajit Mondal, Tapas Biswas, Babua Ali Mondal and Sujit Das, from various parts of Nadia and North 24-Parganas, in connection with the murder and dacoity at Kanchrapara on 21 February.
Dacoits had thrown Chandana Das from her four-storeyed house when she tried to resist them. Mr Supratim Sarkar, police superintendent of North 24-Parganas said: “We arrested Surya Goldar from Chinili near Chakda. “He is a notorious goon. Others were arrested from Nadia and North 24-Parganas.”
