Jadavpur University students held demonstrations and gheraoed the dean of student affairs for more than two hours claiming that there were major inaccuracy in the arts faculty voters’ list.The members of the Faculty of Arts Students (FAS), an anti-SFI organisation, gathered in front of the office of Rajat Roy, the JU dean of student affairs, and commanded a revision of voters’ list, which was not published by then. Thereafter, the authorities have decided to publish the voters'list as a proof to deny the claim. The polls which will elect students’ representatives to the university’s court and executive council is scheduled on March 18.A FAS leader alleged that there are nearly 3,200 students in the arts faculty but the list does not contain the names of many students. He also added that the names of several ex-students have been included in the list.The FAS supporters have termed it as a deliberate attempt to help pro-SFI candidates secure votes.
