The delegations were led by respective Deputy Inspectors General (DIG). "This meting is just to sort out any issues, if at all, and to bring us closer for coordination to check cross border crimes," said S Chatterjee, DIG, BSF. Both the countries share a porous 2,544-mile border. India is building a barbed wire fence to prevent the unauthorized movement of people across borders. Dhaka does not oppose the fencing , but objects to it being built too close to the Zero Line. Ties between the two neighbours have normally been good, but occasionally hit rough patches over the issue of illegal immigrants and border related disputes.
