Left and allies dominat RS polls in West Bengal, Trinamool draws blank

Three CPI(M), one Forward Bloc and one Left supported independent candidates swept the Rajya Sabha polls in West Bengal on Wednesday. Even after garnering support and votes from the SUCI the Trinamool Congress candidate failed to romp home. The party drew a blank.

Former Mayor of Kolkata Prashanta Chattopadhyay and former minister Shyamal Chakraborty won comfortably. The other CPI(M) candidate Tarini Roy too romped home with relative ease. Forward Bloc nominee Debabrata Biswas too was elected.

The independent candidate from Jharkhand Party (Naren Hansda) romped home with support from the Congress and Left alike. He secured 54 votes.

Dinesh Tribedi from Trinamool Congress lost even after securing votes from SUCI.
