An organisation of Bangladeshi refugees has threatened to stall the inaugural run of Kolkata-Dhaka Moitree Express which is all set to start its journey on April 14.

Krishnanagar: An organisation of Bangladeshi refugees has threatened to stall the inaugural run of Kolkata-Dhaka Moitree Express which is all set to start its journey on April 14. The group Nikhil Banga Nagarik Sangha (NBNS) has warned to put blockades on the track route of the Moitree Express demanding immediate suspension of the service in protest against the atrocities on the religious minorities in Bangladesh.

The organisation secretary Subhash Chakraborty in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has also appealed to keep the service "in abeyance till overall atmosphere is conducive enough" in Bangladesh.
In view of the threat, the state administration has decided to review the security arrangement to ensure sleek passage for the much awaited train service. Meanwhile, the NBNS has started wide campaigning in refugee dominated areas of Nadia district and even circulating the leaflets asking to stall the train.
