Question paper leak led authorities to cancel WBJEE
As per the latest report, one man was arrested by the West Bengal State Police from Khargapur who was trapped by the police who went to buy the question papers in disguise. It was then, when the state police forwarded the question papers to the WBJEE Board to cross check, the later called off the exam to be held on Sunday. However, it has not yet been decided as to when the fresh exam will be conducted.
"I don't know the details what happened exactly. But we have cancelled tomorrow's examination and the date will be declared soon after the board meeting, to be held within a day or two," said Siddharth Dutta, Chairman of WBJEE.
This year around 56,000 students are about to sit for the WBJEE and the news came a huge setback for them as the exam was canceled just few hours before the exam.
"It disturbs the mind set. I was ready for the exam but now it would need sometime to reset it. I think that the Board should be more tight regarding this kind of examination," said Krishnendu, who came to Kolkata all the way from Hyderabad to sit for the examination.
Meanwhile the state government ordered a CID investigation in the matter. The CID official, when asked about the latest development in the case, refused to comment anything saying that they have just started their investigation and its no use before they come to a certain conclusion.
The state police however suspects involvement of some big racket in the ploy. "Interrogation of the person arrested could help in the investigation," a senior police officer said. CID too thinks that the person who was arrested would be a trump card in this investigation.
In the last few years, the Kolkata Police had nabbed number of fake examinees in the WBJEE in medical section. Though it's the first time that the WBJEE question paper leakage has came to the front.
