Hospital ransacked over patient's death in Kalyani, Nadia

Kalyani: Death of a four year old girl led to a violent situation at Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial (JNM) hospital in Kalyani on Monday.

Situation turned violent after Kriti Mandal, a resident of Rathtala area, who was admitted complaining acute headache earlier on the day, died. Soon after admission she was attended by pediatric Animesh Samanta who administered her an injection and provided respiratory support. Following this, condition of the girl deteriorated and she died within few minutes.

Victim's father Ashoke Mandal said, “There was blood oozing out from Kriti's nose.” Since then, Animesh Samanta went on missing mysteriously.

The relatives of the victims seeking explanation from the hospital superintendant Nirupam Biswas involved in an altercation with security personnel and and other staffs. Biswas alleging the the relatives of attacking him lodged a complaint with Kalyani police but no person was arrested so far .

Meanwhile, the police took away the body for postmortem. The JNM hospital is one of the biggest hospitals in the state and already deemed to be a new medical college in the state.
