Pervez: I’m not part of any conspiracy

By OUR PAKISTAN CORRESPONDENT

Islamabad, May 15: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said that he is not part of any conspiracy against the PPP led government.

"I will not allow democracy to be derailed and political parties should not bring their personal conflicts into the Aiwan-e-Sadr (President’s House)," he said.

Talking to Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) leader Hamid Nasir Chatta in Rawalpindi, President Musharraf said that he believed in the democratic process and wanted democratic institutions to be strengthened in the country.

President Musharraf said he was playing his constitutional role and would not allow the democratic process to derail.

The President said despite his repeated assurances that he is willing to work with the new government, certain circles were levelling charges against him for not being committed to the democratic process, which he said was "regrettable".

President Musharraf said that despite being in uniform he had always worked for strengthening the democracy and had given priority to national interests.
