Zardari: PPP has majority to form govt minus PML-N
By SHAFQAT ALI
Islamabad, May 15: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that his party has the majority to form governments at Centre and at the influential Punjab province without the support of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).
"I wouldn’t do it but would like to take Nawaz Sharif along with me in any case and there would be no no-trust motion against the sitting Punjab chief minister (who belongs to the PML-N)," he said while addressing a news conference at Zardari House here on Wednesday night.
Mr Zardari admitted that the PPP is not abiding by the clause of Charter of Democracy (CoD) that says that no judges who took oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) will be shown the doors.
"That’s true that CoD was signed between (former PM) Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif not to take back PCO judges, but we have to find out a political solution to the crisis," he justified.
Mr Zardari said that a resolution for restoration of judges will be presented before a joint session of Parliament. He said that he is in constant contact with Mr Sharif but the point of difference is only one.
