A.Q. Khan vows to expose Pervez

BY SHAFQAT ALI

Islamabad

June 29: Pakistan’s nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan has said that he is waiting for the right time to "expose" President Pervez Musharraf.

"I am waiting for the right time. I will reveal things about President Musharraf. I will expose him," Dr Khan told this newspaper by telephone from his Islamabad residence. "Right now a case regarding my detention is pending in the court and I don’t want people to speculate about my anti-Musharraf statements," he said. About a report that American legislators wanted access to him, Dr Khan said that no "foreign element" has the right to question him.

The Pakistan government has already rejected the American legislators’ demand, saying that it alone can probe into allegations of nuclear proliferation against Dr Khan.

"I have said several times that I confessed nuclear export thing (in 2004) just to save Pakistan. I have never done what I said," added Dr Khan.

Meanwhile, President Pervez Musharraf has reiterated that he will not resign and will continue to play his role in the stabilisation of democratic process, security and development of the country. Talking to Sindh governor Ishratul Ibad here on Saturday night, Mr Musharraf voiced concern over the ongoing power crisis in the country, fragility of the economy and deteriorating law and order.

He said the government should focus on addressing economic woes of the common man besides improving law and order and forging political harmony and underlined the need of political harmony in country.
