London: Three of dungeon girl Elisabeth Fritzl’s children have planned a cinema trip with schoolmates, according to a friend.
Repeatedly raped by dad Josef Fritzl during captivity, the 42-year-old is recovering with their six children in a clinic. However, Lisa, 16, Monika, 14, and Alex, 12, brought up by Fritzl as babies, were pulled out of school when his secret emerged and have been desperate for contact with their old friends. —ANI

China deports 8 American protesters
Beijing: China has deported eight Americans and released a Briton and a German, who were detained for a week for holding a series of pro-Tibet demonstrations during the Beijing Olympics.
Their release comes a day after Washington voiced its "disappointment" that China had not used the Games "to show greater tolerance." The Americans left during the Olympic closing ceremony. —PTI

Forces storm Darfur camp, 25 shot dead
Khartoum: A deadly firefight on Monday killed at least 25 people after Sudanese security forces thrust into one of the largest camps for displaced people in Darfur, witnesses said.
Reports of casualties varied wildly and there was no immediate confirmation of numbers. The violence came just hours before Djibril Bassole, the new international mediator trying to find a political solution to end five years of war in Darfur, was to arrive to take up his post. —AFP
