Barack has strong Chinese support

Washington, Oct. 23: Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama may be leading the US presidential race against John McCain by only about 10 per cent in his country, but enjoys a much higher rating in China.

A Reuters/C-SPA- N/Zogby poll released on Wednesday gave the Democratic presidential nominee a 10 per cent lead over his Republican rival. But an online poll conducted on China Daily’s website, shows Mr Obama enjoys the support of 75 per cent among the Chinese. A Horizon Research survey released on Wednesday showed about 35.5 per cent Chinese "pay close attention" to the US presidential race. Even among these people, Mr Obama’s supporters exceed Mr McCain. "The most impressive thing is that the Chinese people’s strong backing for Mr Obama," said Song Zhiyuan, who analysed the survey results.
