Oct. 25: Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said on Saturday that the armed forces are bound to obey decisions of the Parliament and would fulfil the expectations of the nation. Addressing the passing out parade at Pakistan Military Academy Kakul, the Chief of Army Staff said the Parliament resolution against terrorism is a historic step.
"There is consensus in the country over participation of the people to curb terrorism," he said.
The forces are prepared to counter internal and foreign threats faced by the country with the support of people and the government," he said.
"Pakistan wants peaceful and brotherly relations with the neighbouring countries and doesn’t intend to involve in arms race with any country," he said. The country however will maintain minimum defence capabilities, he said.
The country is facing more challenges at internal level than the foreign threat including militancy and terrorism, the COAS said adding that the Parliament resolution to counter these challenges is a key milestone.
