Airtel, Pacnet join hands for interconnecting networks
Telecom service provider Bharti Airtel on Wednesday said that it has entered into an agreement with Pacnet to interconnect the networks of both the companies for expanding connections to and from India.
Under the NNI (network-to-network interface) agreement, the two companies would directly interconnect their network infrastructure to expand their IP VPN (Internet Protocol virtual private network) capabilities, the companies said in a joint statement.
The agreement would enable both the companies to deliver greater coverage, seamless user experience and reliable technology to their customers.
Bharti Airtel, Enterprise Services, President David Nishball said, "This agreement is in line with our strategy to extend the global reach of our customers and providing them a secure, consistent and robust network running right from their doorstep to the most populous markets across Asia Pacific and beyond."
Bill Barney, Chief Executive Officer, Pacnet, said, "As we continue to see high growth in enterprise communication requirements to and from India, we are pleased to team up with Bharti Airtel in delivering seamless connectivity to our customers."
Following the signing of the NNI, Airtel and Pacnet also announced a special "Gateway to India” offering for high capacity International Private Line circuits between the United States and India.
The offering would leverage the strengths of each companys subsea assets to provide a fast, resilient end-to-end connection for enterprise customers. The connections would utilise Airtel's i2i/SeMeWe 4 system, Pacnets EAC-C2C network and Pacific Crossings PC-1 cable system.
Pacnet is an independent telecommunications service provider, formed from the operational merger of Asia Netcom and Pacific Internet.
