India, Germany sign pact for training executives

India and Germany have entered into an agreement to train senior executives of Indian companies in Germany.

A Memorandum of Understanding signed by Minister for Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath and German Minister for Industry and Technology Michael Glos Tuesday night envisages training of about 50 Indian executives in the initial phase.

The programme involves theoretical courses as well as on- the-job training in German companies.

Meanwhile, both the ministers examined ways to resume the collapsed Doha Round of WTO negotiations and also reviewed the progress made by current negotiations on the Indo-EU free trade agreement.

In the area of bilateral cooperation, Nath and Glos discussed matters related to further stepping up German investments in India and vice versa, fostering bilateral trade and promoting technical education and training at different levels in India.

Nath, accompanied by a 90-member Indian business delegation, began his two-day visit to Berlin by delivering the key-note address at fourth annual India conference of leading German economic daily Handlesblatt in Berlin on Monday.
