Tata executives inspect site in AP for Nano

Continuing its hunt for a new site for the Nano car project, a team of Tata Motors' executives on Monday inspected a 1,200 acre land at Warangal, about 45 kms from Hyderabad.

Medak district Collector Peeyush Kumar, who took around the Tata team, told PTI over phone from Medak that 650 acres could be made available to the company immediately and the rest shortly.

He said the government would start work on reclaiming the land from illegal occupants.

Kumar told them that the proposed site was well connected to 'Hyderabad-Karimnagar Rajeev Rahadari' which was being expanded into a four-lane highway.

The Tata team reportedly did not speak anything either for or against the Medak location and told the officials that they would get back to them after the Tata management deliberated upon various options.

The Tata Nano car project is being vigorously wooed by Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat as its top officials are carrying out site inspections after the group exited West Bengal following political opposition.
