Amitabh, batchmates pledge on quality education
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan today joined a number of his batchmates at the prestigious Sherwood College here in pledging towards a campaign for quality education for all.
Speaking at the founder's day celebrations of the college, where he studied from 1956-1958, Bachchan stressed the need for integration of high level of values and education for allround growth of the society. He said there is a need to "join hands to ensure that each and every section of the society has access to quality education".
During a series of events the Big B enjoyed an opera "The Prodigal Son" with his colleagues of class 1958. They all announced they would contribute towards for building a 50-bed hostel for girls in the school.
They said they would like to see the building completed by 2011. Bachchan's entire family, including wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai were present at the function. They all left picturesque Nainital in the afternoon.
