This was told to a Communist Party of India delegation by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when they called on him in the Capital on Saturday. After the meeting, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan told reporters, " the government plans to bring the bill in this session, the Prime Minister told us." Singh said that he was keen and would be discussing the matter in the cabinet to finalise the modalities, Bardhan added. The Women's Reservation Bill, which aims to set aside one-third of seats in Parliament and state assemblies for women, has been hanging fire for a long time due to opposition from certain parties who want special quota-in-quota for women from backward and minority communities.
