Bangladesh will not allow anti-India activities: Envoy
As intelligence agencies suspect the role of a Bangladesh-based terror outfit in the serial blasts in Jaipur, Dhaka has reiterated it will not allow its territory to be used for anti-India activities.
“It is the Bangladesh government's stated position not to allow its soil to be used for anti-India activities,” Bangladesh's High Commissioner to India Liaqat A Chowdhury said today. “Much before this (the Jaipur terror attack) happened, we had taken action against terrorism,” the high commissioner said. The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal on Wednesday said that a 'foreign hand' was suspected to be behind the blasts. Intelligence agencies suspect the Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) could be behind the serial blasts in Jaipur on Tuesday evening that killed at least 61 people and injured 216.
In Dhaka, Foreign Affairs Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said that Indian media reports linking the blasts to HuJi were 'hasty'. He said that they 'should not jump to conclusions before thorough investigations are conducted'. “These are terrorists who have done these sordid and heinous deeds, and terrorists have no boundaries," he added.
The Bangladesh government on Tuesday condemned the blasts and expressed its sympathies to the victims and their families. (IANS)
