Till last year, the fee of IIM-A’s PGP programme was Rs 2.50 lakh, which has been increased to Rs 5.50 lakh for the first year and Rs 6 lakh for the second year of the two-year post-graduate programme for the batch joining in June 2008. This is for the first time that the IIM-A will be charging different fees for the first and second year in the same programme, sources in the Institute said. In a signed statement issued by Dr Vijaypat Singhania, Chairman, IIM-A Board of Governor & Society said, "The Board of IIM-A reviewed the cost structure of the two year post graduate programme (PGP). After an extensive discussion, the Board unanimously decided to charge a fee of Rs 5.50 lakhs for the first year of the PGP and a fee of Rs 6 lakhs for the second year of the PGP programme for the batch joining in the June 2008." To counter the massive fee hike, IIM-A has increased its commitment to students from low income groups. IIM A has decided to triple the annual family income limit from Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 6 lakhs for a student eligible for financial support.
