Bangalore Varsities to go for barcoding for marksheets
With a view to check forgery of marksheets and question paper leakage, the Bangalore University and Vishweshwaraya Technological University (VTU) will soon adopt barcoding technology for marksheets and degree certificates.
Bangalore: With a view to check forgery of marksheets and question paper leakage, the Bangalore University and Vishweshwaraya Technological University (VTU) will soon adopt barcoding technology for marksheets and degree certificates.The technology will be adopted as "an additional security measure and to prevent forgery of marksheets or question paper leakage," said, Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor H A Ranganath.
"Negotiations are on with a software company for adopting the technology and we have asked them to come up with a pilot project in three months time", Ranganath said, refusing to divulge the name of the firm.
The firm was developing such technologies for other universities also, Ranganath added.
Dr H P Khincha, Vice-Chancellor of VTU, said that the "technology is just one more security measure".
At present, VTU marks cards have 25 features for security as it helps in verification of these documents for job and visa purposes, Khincha said. (PTI)
