Delhi Minister today condemned use of corporal punishment in schools

The Minister of Education & Tourism, Delhi, Arvinder Singh Lovely today condemned use of corporal punishment in schools saying the Indian system of education do not permit such type of incidents. The Minister further urged the parents and guardians of the children to come forward and report matters of corporal punishment in schools so that the guilty can be brought to books at the earliest.

The Minister said this while handing over a cheque of Rs One lakh as ex-gratia financial assistance to the parents of deceased girl Rinki Kaushik today. The girl was allegedly hit by the teacher in the class after which her situation kept worsening.
The girl was the student of Dinkar Public School and was undergoing treatment at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in New Delhi. The girl could not recuperate from the injuries sustained by her during corporal punishment granted to her by the teacher. Later, the girl succumbed to his injuries.

The Minister expressed grief over the death of the girl and offered his condolences to her parents. She was a bright student of class 10th of the said school.
At the end, the Minister said that children are our future leaders and we should inculcate leadership qualities in them so that they become good and responsible citizens. He said that children have tender minds and it is the responsibility of the parents and teachers to show them the right path to success.

He further said that we must encourage our children to exploit their potential to the maximum so that they can choose their own field and it is the duty of the whole society to nurture young talent so that they bloom like beautiful flowers in our country.
