MNS chief Raj Thackeray gets police notice
Mumbai Police on Thursday served a notice to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray asking him to explain his alleged anti-north Indian remarks at a rally in the city last week.
During the rally to mark second anniversary of MNS, Raj Thackeray, the estranged nephew of Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray, had dared the state government to arrest him for speaking out against migrants from north India settled in Mumbai and elsewhere in Maharashtra.
He targeted the north Indians by saying only Maharashtra Day should be celebrated in the state and he will not allow them to destroy the Maharashtrian culture. The MNS has been campaigning against north Indian migrants since early February. (IANS)
