Body will be back in Andhra on Saturday

By OUR LONDON CORRESPONDENT

London, May 20: The coroner’s court in Birmingham has released the body of 23-year-old Indian student, Samrajyo Jyothirmai Vempala, who was found murdered at her residence at Handsworth, a suburb of Birmingham, on May 6.

The inquest into the murder of 23-year-old Samrajyo has not started as yet. Last Thursday, a preliminary hearing was started at the coroner’s court in Birmingham. However, the hearing was adjourned and the coroner has not set the date for the next hearing as yet.

The coroner’s office has cleared all the paperwork. The body will reach London on Wednesday, will be put on KLM flight on May 22. From Amsterdam the body will be directly flown to Hyderabad where it will arrive at 1 am on Saturday morning. University officials are going to India for the funeral.

However, sources in the Indian high commission said that Samrajyo’s parents will not be coming to collect her body, instead they have authorised European Telugu Association president, Dr Rajsekhar Reddy, to complete the necessary paperwork and send her body back to India.

Two post-mortem examinations of the murdered woman have been carried out till now — the first one by the police established that she died as a result of head injuries. The second one was carried out for the defence.
