'Father slains Aarushi to hush up extramarital affair'

Noida police today arrested Rajesh Talwar on charges of killing his 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and 45-year-old servant Hemraj at his residence on May 15. The entire episode of crime is based on extramarital affairs and illicit relationship. Talwar has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

Noida: Noida police today arrested Rajesh Talwar on charges of killing his 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and 45-year-old servant Hemraj at his residence on May 15. The entire episode of crime is based on extramarital affairs and illicit relationship. Talwar has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

For hushing up the extramarital affair between Talwar and Anita Durrani and the illicit-relationship between Arushi and Hemraj, the crime was committed, Gurdharshan Singh Inspector General, Meerut Range informed a packed up press conference. "Talwar first killed Hemraj and then Arushi," Singh said.

Based on circumstantial evidence, the Noida police today arrested him near a temple in Sector 21 at 12 noon. It was on May 16 at L-32 in Sector 25, Arushi was found murdered at her bedroom and the very next day, May 17, servant Hemraj's body was discovered at the terrace of the house covered with a cooler cover.

"On the fateful night, Talwar arrived at his home 11.30 pm and found Hemraj and Aarushi in an objectionable condition. On the pretext of advising Hemraj, Talwar took him to the terrace and killed him. He first hit Hemraj on the head and then slit his throat," said IG Singh.

Singh continued, "After killing Hemraj, he stepped down from the terrace and consumed three pegs of whisky. At about 1 am, he entered Aarushi's room and slit her throat after hammering her head. However, the weapon of offence is yet to be recovered."

"Talwar initially misguided the police by asking it to first arrest servant Hemraj," said Singh. "We are not keeping Talwars' dentist wife Nupur out of the crime," he added.

According to him, the extramarital affair between Talwar and Durrani was being discussed between Hemraj and Arushi. "The matter even got known among other servants. During this period, Aarushi and Hemraj came very close to each other, a fact which her father could not digest despite being corrupt himself," the IG said. "Hemraj was even aware of the danger to his life," said Singh.

Earlier, SSP Noida, A Satish Ganesh had mentioned that the crime was an "Honour Killing". Also an erotic MMS involving Arushi came into light today, when it was aired by a private news channel. Meanwhile, Satish Ganesh has been transferred.

There are several questions that remain unanswered like- what Nupur, Arushi's mother was doing while the crime committed was being committed? and is Anita Durrani directly involved with the crime?
