Girls excel yet again in Class 10

May 29: Girls continue to set their mark higher than boys in the Class 10 board examinations conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). They have once again beaten boys by an average percentage of 1.5 per cent.

The wait for the anxious Class 10 students finally ended on Thursday when the CBSE announced the results, which registered a pass percentage of 87.08 per cent.

Girls outshine boys yet again in the examinations with an impressive pass percentage of 87.96 per cent. Boys’ pass percentage was 86.46 per cent.

Out of the six exam regions, Chennai topped the pass percentage list with 95.26 per cent followed by Ajmer (94.22 per cent), Allahabad (89.10), Panchkula (89.07), Delhi (82.87) and Guwahati (57.29).

A total of 7,65,095 candidates, including 4,49,742 boys, had registered for the exam held in March 2008.

The result is available on the official CBSE website www.cbse.nic.in.

The board had announced the results of the Chennai region on May 27. Results of the rest five region were announced on Thursday at 8 am.

In Delhi, 242 students scored 95 per cent or above marks while 4,503 students, of which 2,580 were girls, got 90 per cent or above marks.

Among the disabled students, 19 students scored 90 per cent or above marks of which nine are from Chennai. Delhi’s Shayan Lahiri (deaf) and Prateek Asnani (dyslexic) received more than 90 per cent marks. There were 373 visually-challenged students in Class 10. Out of the total 1,419 disabled students, 87.50 per cent cleared the examination. The examinations were held between March 1 and 27.

J&K DPS: 100% pass percentage

May 29: The Delhi Public School, Srinagar, has achieved outstanding performance in the CBSE examinations for the second consecutive year. All the 83 students of the school who appeared in the Class 10 examination, have been declared successful.
