May 30: Demanding a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs for families of those who died in police firing during the ongoing Gujjar agitation, JD(U) president Sharad Yadav have urged the Centre and the Rajasthan government to come up with an amicable solution. Mr Yadav said that both the Centre and the state government should forget their differences and resolve the situation, which seems to have gone out of control.
"It is unfortunate that so many people have died during this ongoing agitation. Both (the Centre and Rajasthan government) should come up with a solution for this issue soon," said Mr Yadav during the meeting of the party’s central leadership, which also criticised the growing inflation figure which has touched the 8.1 per cent mark. Criticising the Centre for not being able to bring down inflation, JD(U) president asked the Centre to check the issues responsible for price rise.
Hundreds of party supporters had gathered in the Capital on Friday to protest against the growing inflation rate. They criticised the Centre for failing to bring down the price of essential commodities. They demanded that the government should take stringent measures to bring down inflation.
