Peta had rather aggressively promoted as a unique event where "two beautiful girls wearing only a heart as costume" would urge people to boycott KFC for the heartless practices its suppliers use while slaughtering the millions of birds that are fried and served up to ignorant customers in its restaurants across the world. In fact the press release issued by the animal rights group began with the tantalising description: "Sexy Peta activists tell people ‘KFC breaks chicks’ hearts’ — Lovely ladies urge Chandigarh residents to boycott cruel fastfood chain until company end worst farming and slaughter abuses." But Peta’s plans for an attention-grabbing dem-onstration came an end, first when the two girls slated to appear in skin-collared body suits and heart-shaped placards backed out and then when two other young women, who agreed to don the red hearts over their shirts and jeans, dumped their costumes in the parking lot.
