"The issues of debate will be a complete failure of the UPA leadership, a national drift in the administration, and the anti-people policies which led to price rise and agricultural crisis in the country. All this has left the nation exasperated," said BJP spokesman Arun Jaitley after a meeting of NDA chief ministers on Thursday. Barring Karnataka CM B.S. Yeddyurappa and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, who had engagements back home, all the NDA CMs took part in the meeting, which was called to take stock of the political situation developing ahead of the crucial UPA confidence motion on July 22. Sounding confident that the NDA will be able to manage the numbers in order to defeat the confidence motion during the special session of Lok Sabha, Mr Jaitley said the UPA government was seemingly slipping on this count. "The NDA opponents too will vote against the government. The chief ministers felt the government is having difficulty in managing the numbers," he said when asked the exact numbers in the NDA kitty. In this line, he also expressed hope that despite not issuing a whip to its 8 MPs, the SAD would vote with the NDA on the D-Day. "When a senior leader like P.S. Badal has given an assurance there is no need for further clarification," he said. Observing that the reported horsetrading going on to win over the support of MPs as very unfortunate, Mr Jaitley charged that the PMO and the government have been reduced to a bargaining counter. To give a final push to their strategy, all the NDA MPs will meet in the Parliament annex on July 22, added Mr Jaitley. *** NLP MP to go against UPA BY OUR CORRESPONDENT NEW DELHI July 17: President of National Loktantrik Party Arshan Khan said the lone Member of Parliament of his party Baleshwar Yadav will vote against the United Progressive Alliance government during the special session of Lok Sabha on July 22.
