Blood sample sent abroad?
BY Our Correspondent
Bhubaneswar
July 17: The "stolen" blood samples of the girl who is undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical at Cuttack, 25 km from here, for a rare genetic disorder are believed to have been passed into foreign hands.
Doctors treating the 14-year-old girl had high hopes on patenting the research findings on the case considered as "unique".
"We will lose our patent rights on our findings if the samples find their way to foreign research bodies," they said. A staff nurse took the blood samples of the girl and her father without being "authorised".
