Bardhan undergoes surgery

New Delhi

Sept. 6: CPI general secretary A.B. Bardhan, who was admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) last week, underwent an operation for gall bladder stone removal on Saturday.

The 82-year-old Communist leader was brought to AIIMS on September 1 with high fever, jaundice and hypertension from Bihar.

He had fell ill on his way to flood-hit areas in Begusarai of the state.

He was first admitted to the Barauni Refinery Hospital after he complained of diarrhoea and shivering, forcing him to call off his visit to flood ravaged areas of Bihar. He was later flown to the national capital.AIIMS authorities said CPI leader's condition is stable and the operation was successful.

5 injured in clash over eve-teasing

Jaipur, Sept. 6: Five people, including three policemen, were injured in a clash following an eve-teasing incident during a state-level kabaddi match in Ajmer district, the police said on Saturday.

Some boys made ugly remarks against the women players participating in a competition at a stadium in the Pali Bazar area in Beawar on Friday. When male sportspersons came to know about the incident they went on a lookout for the boys, leading to a clash between them. -PTI

CBI files case against doctors

NEW DELHI

Sept. 6: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case of fraud against doctors and employees working in the administration department of K.G. health centre in Baroda.

The CBI registered the case, alleging that the doctors and the administration department of the health centre conspired with the private chemists of Baroda in the reimbursement of fake bills.

The profits so made were shared between the doctor and the chemists.

2 women kill kids, end lives

Jaipur, Sept. 6: A woman committed suicide by jumping into a well after pushing their children into it in Bhilwara district, the police said on Saturday.

The incident took place at Arnia village of Ganagapur tehsil and the deceased were identified as Shanti Devi (32), Narayan (10), Kavita (5), and Vivek (2).

In a similar incident, another woman, Murta, jumped along with her 10-year-old son to death in a well at Malakhera in the same district, the police said. -PTI
