Delhi photo electoral rolls by Oct 15
The much-awaited final photo electoral rolls of all assembly constituencies in the national capital will be rolled out in two phases by October 15.
"In the first phase, photo-electoral rolls of 24 assembly seats in West, North and South-west districts will be published on October 6 while on October 15 photo electoral rolls of 46 assembly constituencies in remaining six districts," Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Satbir Silas Bedi said.
We will then start the process of distribution of voter identity cards, which will delivered by booth-level official or any other official deployed by the election office for the purpose, she said.
Bedi blamed the casual approach of the citizens for numerous discrepancies in the electoral rolls.
"Many of the mistakes crept in the electoral rolls due to the carelessness of the citizens. It includes pasting of photographs of husband on the Form 001b in one such case and also not checking the information on sex given in the form," Bedi said while giving samples of mistakes.
Many of the citizens did not visit designated locations or websites of the election office to check their particulars or snaps in the electoral rolls of their area, Bedi said.
"In only 1.3 lakh form no 8, that the electors sought corrections while in comparison, our officials identified mistakes and corrected in about 8 lakhs forms," she said.
To ensure clean electoral rolls during the polls, Bedi asked the electors to assure that the Election Commission guidelines are followed and that their names are not more than once in any constituency.
