Gill forms organisation to stop criminals to enter politics

Up in the arms against the entry of anti-socials in politics, former police chief of Punjab K P S Gill on Thursday formed an organisation to fight against the political parties providing platform to such persons.

“The organisation aims to oppose the endemic corruption and opportunism of politics as well as struggle against the participation of criminal and anti-social elements in democratic institutions, election and also in government by exposing the antecedents of such elements by mobilising the public support against them in the country," said Gill, former DGP of Punjab.

The outfit 'Tehrik-e-Watan Parastaan-E-Hind' will launch a crusade against the political parties which provide electoral platforms to the anti-social elements, he said in a press conference in New Delhi.

"Tehrik-e-Watan Parastaan-E-Hind will provide a wide opportunity to the masses of the nation who see no viable political alternatives to the venal and visionless leaders forced on them by cynical political parties in the parliamentary and assembly polls," said the former chief of Indian Hockey Federation.

Gill also asked others who are willing to speak out against the criminalisation, communalism, casteism and corruption in politics to extend their support to this "movement of Indian nationalists".

"We will talk all existing organisations which are already working single-handedly in the country to support this cause and we are in touch with them. We will try our best that this organisation percolate to the grass root level, at least up to district level having a strong and effective functioning there" he said.

Gill later told reporters that it is right time to launch such organisation as the parliamentary elections are at hand. He said, “We can stop anti-social elements from entering the august legislative body of the nation by educating people about the antecedents of the politicians and the political parties."
