Two killed by suspected Maoists in Chatra
Two persons, including a self-styled commander of the banned Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), were killed and a villager was injured by suspected Maoists in Chatra district, police said in Chatra on Friday.
The TPC activists identified as Nilesh alias Kariman Ganju, was watching a cultural programme at Kunda village late Thursday night when about fifty suspected Maoists surrounded him before shooting him dead, Assistant Superintendent of Police Kumar Abhishek said.
A villager was injured when a bullet hit him, the police officer said, adding he had been admitted to a hospital. The TPC is a breakaway group of the CPI(Maoist).
In a separate incident, Shyam Singh, owner of a small restaurant, was beheaded by unknown men on Thursday night at Sonepur under Sadar police station.
"Though the manner in which Singh was killed indicates Maoists hand, it could be the act of some looters," Abhishek said.
