Train services disrupted in Bengal
Train services were disrupted today in Kolkata as a result of the 24-hour bandh called by the Forward Bloc.
According to television reports, no trains were moving in and out of Howrah station. At least five trains have been cancelled and long distance trains have not been able to enter the station.
Four activists of West Bengal's ruling Left Front partner Forward Bloc were killed on Tuesday and several injured in police firing as violence broke out during the party's anti-government protest in Coochbehar district.
Angry over police action, the Forward Bloc, the second largest partner in Left Front, called a statewide 24-hour bandh on Wednesday.
The Forward Bloc's call is being supported by opposition parties including the Trinamool Congress, Congress, BJP and SUCI.
