Aug. 7: Intensifying their campaign against ‘Miss Nepal’ beauty contest, Maoists on Thursday stormed the offices of the pageant’s Indian sponsor Dabur and the event organiser and locked their staff out.
About 50 Maoist cadres led by Amrita Thapa, general secretary of All Nepal Women’s Organisation (Revolutionary), forced their way into the office of the Hidden Treasure, the organiser of ‘Dabur Vatika Miss Nepal’ which was to be held on Thursday but was put off indefinitely following threats by Maoists. "They locked up our office at 11 am and did not allow any one to enter it," Girendra Man Rajbanshi, managing director of the company said. An hour later, the same group went to the head office of Dabur Nepal, an Indian joint venture, at Tinkune situated near the Tribhuvan International Airport and asked all the staff to come out before locking up the office. —PTI
