Jaiswal points at neighbour terror link

New Delhi, May 14: The Centre on Wednesday refused to name any terrorist outfit which could be behind the eight blasts that rocked Jaipur on Tuesday even as it confessed that the blasts had links with a "neighbouring" country. Union minister of state for home Sriprakash Jaiswal told a press conference that it could be any of the neighbouring countries — Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Burma — that were facing internal turmoil.
He said that the Jaipur serial blasts smacked of a "deep-rooted and very well-planned conspiracy" to disturb communal harmony in the country. While refusing to specify the organisation which was suspected to be behind the explosions, Mr Jaiswal said that investigations were still on. "I will not like to name the dangerous outfits," he said.
Mr Jaiswal remained evasive when he was questioned whether the Bangladesh-based outfit, Harkat-ul Jihad-e-Islami (HuJI), could be behind Tuesday’s attacks. He replied saying that those involved in the blasts would be "thoroughly exposed" very soon.
To repeated questions whether it was another case of intelligence failure, Mr Jaiswal said there was no specific input when and where the terrorists would strike in Jaipur.
Union home minister Shivraj Patil, who will visit Jaipur on Thursday to take stock of the situation, said the need of hour was to fight terrorism jointly. "We have to fight terrorism resolutely," he said.
Union home secretary Madhukar Gupta said all efforts were on to get to the bottom of the incident and try to get hold of the people responsible for it. Teams of central experts have been sent to Jaipur to look into various aspects.
