It should be a balancing act both for economic region and defence region. The lack of certain skills could pose threat. These are the challenges DRDO is facing. They never had any exposure to what defence equipments are all about,” informed the Director General of Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) and Secretary DRDO, M Natarajan while inaugurating 'DARPAN', a permanent exhibition set up at the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) in New Delhi on Monday. Echoing similar views, chief guest of the function M M Pallam Raju, Minister of State for Defence, said, “IAS officer should go to abroad and have proper training to help things out. It is agreed they need exposure.” Earlier, inaugurating the exhibition, Pallam Raju remarked, “It is a unique permanent exhibition of DRDO, which showcases the Research and Technological strength of DRDO. The exhibition provides an insight of DRDO?s activity and competence to young researchers, job seekers, who are aspiring for DRDO as career, experts from various disciplines and distinguished visitors from the country and abroad.” Speaking to Headlines India, Chief Controller R&D and a distinguished scientist Prahalada said that DARPAN displays all the products of the past 20 years. From missile to aeronautics, combat system, radar, communication, engineering support system and new material like electronic warfare, simulation and armaments. “It is kind of audio-visual presentation, which is also used as part of recruitment promotion for the new scientist. We keep it dynamic and updated. RAC is the window for the DRDO,” added Prahalada.
