‘I was in tears when Jeev won’
Chandigarh: After ending a frustrating 18-month title-drought by lifting the Bank Austria Golf Open, Jeev Milkha Singh will take a week-long break to recharge his batteries for the gruelling schedule that lies ahead.
"I am taking a week-long break now before I play five weeks in a row," Jeev said.
The Austria Open is Jeev's third European Tour title after his 2006 Volvo Masters and Volvo China Open triumphs.
Meanwhile, Jeev's father 'flying sikh' Milkha Singh said his son's win brought tears to his eyes.
"I was catching the action over internet and on television. After being under pressure on the last 2-3 holes, Jeev showed great courage to pull it off. His victory brought tears of joy to my eyes," Milkha Singh said here.
Jeev said he was now looking to repeat the triumph in the tournaments ahead.
"I will be playing in Munich, Germany next week and up ahead is French Open, European Open and the Scottish Open. It's going to be non-stop action and I will be looking to maintain the winning momentum," Jeev said.
On Sunday's win, Jeev said he was fortunate to win with 18 pars. "I thought I was fortunate in the situation... There is pressure on a player and I can only try and hope for best results," he said.
