Bad Waltersdorf, Austria: Poland captain Maciej Zurawski was ruled out of the
group stage of the European Championship on Monday after straining his right
quadriceps.
Team doctor Jerzy Grzywocz said the striker underwent an MRI scan in Vienna
after injuring his leg in Poland’s opening 0-2 loss to Germany on Sunday.
The scan results "eliminate him from taking part in the next two matches," he
said.

Cruyff laments coach’s tactics
Berne, Switzerland: Dutch footballing legend Johan Cruyff criticised national
coach Marco van Basten’s tactics on Monday just hours ahead of their opening
Euro 2008 clash with world champions Italy but claimed that it hadn’t affected
their friendship.
Cruyff, who spearheaded on the pitch the Dutch ‘total football’ in the
1970’s, said that the fullbacks did not get involved enough with the moves and
that not enough use was made of the spaces when the team were in possession of
