Bopanna, Qureshi cruise
New Delhi, July 16: Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul Qureshi stunned fourth seeds Igor Kunitsyn and Dmitry Tursunov in the opening round to advance to the quarterfinals of Indianapolis Tennis Championships in United States.
The unseeded Indo-Pakistani pair beat their Russian rivals 2-6, 7-5, 10-6,
Bopanna and Qureshi, who finished runners-up in last week’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, will now be up against the Australian-American pair of Ashley Fisher and Tripp Phillips.
Fisher and Phillips beat Frenchmen Nicolas Mahut and Giles Simon in their opening round match of the $525,000 hard court event.

Ousted Gill to attend AHC meet
Hyderabad, July 16: K.P.S. Gill, the sacked president of the disbanded Indian Hockey Federation, will represent India in the Asian Hockey Confederation’s executive committee meeting here on Thursday.
According to AHC sources, Gill will attend the meeting as it is open for only the elected members of the continental federation.
India has four persons in the committee including K. Jothikumaran, who resigned as IHF secretary following an alleged ‘bribe scandal’. Indian Women’s Hockey Federation president Vidya Stokes and secretary Amrit Bose, will also attend the meeting.
Ramachandra Rao, the joint secretary of disbanded IHF, said it was not known if IHF’s dissolution is a part of the agenda.
