Mahesh, Karan reach round two

Jaipur: Top seeded Mahesh Mangaonkar sailed into the second round of the Jaipur Club Harish Chandra Golecha Squash tournament, along with local lad Karan Tharyamal, who earned a facile win over Jai Raichuria.

National champion and top seeded in u-15 boys category Mahesh Mangaonkar got a walk-over against Tushar Kothari, while second in the category Tharayamal took only 20 minutes to outclass Jai Raichuria of Rajkot.

Tharayamal won 11-0, 11-0, 11-1 to make an impressive start in the tournament. Third seed Tushar of Jodhpur and fourth seed Kush Kumar of Delhi too got easy victories. Tushaar beat Nayan 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 while Kushkumar edged past Sidhaarth of Jodhpur 11-5, 11-7, 11-4.

The seniors had a rest day while the juniors contested in the tournament. The secretary of the Jaipur Club Dharmendra Kamthan said that the main attraction of the tournament is world number 37 Joshna Chinappa, who would arrive on Sunday. — PTI
