Mahalakshmi M. is raring to go after her Asian U-10 chess championship title that she won two months ago. The Class V student of Velammal Matriculation School, Mugappair in Tamil Nadu tallied eight points in nine rounds to clinch the title in style.

For the record, she was unbeaten throughout the premier continental event. Mahalakshmi was also a winner of a bronze medal at the World Youth (U-8) chess championship in 2006.

Mahalakshmi, who is now being trained by M.R. Sangeetha and Suresh, wants to reach the peak.

"Winning a world championship title is my ultimate ambition. I have been working hard to improve my game. I practise for close to seven hours every day. I am very passionate about chess and outdoor games do not fascinate me that much," says the Viswanathan Anand fan.

She is no slouch at studies as her consistent good academic performances indicate. The youngster says she is confident of excelling at studies as well as chess.
