Parliament attack case: SC dismisses Shaukat Guru's p

The Supreme Court today dismissed a review petition of Shaukat Hussain Guru - one of the prime convict in 2002 Parliament attack case.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today dismissed a review petition of Shaukat Hussain Guru - one of the prime convict in 2002 Parliament attack case. A Bench of Justice P P Naolekar and Justice V S Sirpurkar dismissed Guru's petition, challenging his conviction by the apex court itself, stating it as non-maintainable on the basis of merits.

Earlier, the court had admitted his petition for the third time over the same and after hearing all arguments, reserved its order on April 22. Guru had earlier appealed four times over his conviction including the one in which he had challenged Delhi High Court's order of upholding the trial court's judgment of death penalty for him.
Guru was firstly convicted under POTA (Prevention of Terrorist Act, 2002) for raging war against country, and was awarded death sentence by the trial court.

Later the Supreme Court had exempted Shaukat Hussain Guru from all the above charges and reduced Guru's sentence to 10 years. However, the apex court had convicted him for concealing the information about the attack on the country.
